Fr Paul visited Flindt Landing Camp in Ontario Canada with family years ago where they had a vacation week of walleye fishing. He blessed the camp and inscribed the initials of the three kings above the lodge door, which are still there. The section of shoreline that he liked to fish was, and still is, called “the holy land”. There is a spot around the corner from the holy land called “Mankowski Bay,” named for his dad who was so excited to catch a 10 pound walleye there. Fr Paul would stay in touch with my dad, Dave Gish, sending a post card of Pope John Paul signed “greetings from the boss,” and another superimposed with the Pope holding a stringer of walleye. I never had the pleasure of meeting Fr Paul but my dad thought the world of him, and I hope they are casting a line together in heaven.
