It's late to be contributing but I just found her obituary.
I was a friend since my childhood, went to school with her son, Bill, and knew her daughter Paty, of course.
Miriam entertained all the kids who knew her, with her piano playing and bonfires held in her yard on many nights. We all loved her. Coming from an unhappy home myself I spent many days and evenings visiting the family . Miriam, or "Kirk' as we called her before she married Carl, loved us all. She was so energetic, and raised Bill and Pat alone before she met and married Carl. All who know them as a couple knew they were meant for each other, and did so many things together!
Even after I grew up, and lost contact with Bill, I used to stop to see her when I was in town. Carl welcomed me and others who knew her before. He was a good man and a loving step-father to Bill and Paty, raising them as his own after taking over that position in their lives. MIriam and Carl are missed in our lives. They brought warmth and friendship. God bless them both.

Today is Miriam's birthday and her Memorial service. What a beautiful day to celebrate her journey through life! My family has know Miriam since we met in church back in 1983. Throughout the years I have always admired Miriam's ability to see humor in every situation as well as her humble spirit of always being thankful for her many blessings. She enjoyed talking to my husband about music and the wonderful Hammond organ and also taught my three daughters in Primary. They still remember the sign language songs she taught them and her "sharing time" lessons as well as the "secret code" messages she sent back at forth during church to my daughter Laura. We truly will miss Miriam but will always remember what a special lady she was. 'Til we meet again.

I loved my Aunt Miriam and Uncle Carl so much! I think I get some of my artistic abilities from them. I have such fond memories of Aunt Miriam belly dancing, her jokes, laughter, playing the organ, painting, their home, their dog, their gardening, Uncle's wrought iron creations and mouse traps, and many family visits over the years. I was planning on stopping by to see her just before Christmas since my son CJ and I moved into the area. I told my son about her and Uncle Carl often when we passed by on Harlem or 95th street. Saddly, time never warranted the opportunity before she passed. I am truly sorry that I did not do so. I really wanted to tell her one more time how much I love her and her laugh. Aunt Miriam played the organ at my wedding- it was sooooo beautiful! I thank God for her and her gifts and abilities. I will miss her greatly. I will be at the memorial service to share in celebrating her and Uncle Carl's lives one more time.

I knew Miriam for only five years. I wish I had known her longer. We had so much in common. I met her at the Writer's Group where her contributions inspired me to write a few of my own. She taught me the fundamentals of Chess and one of my stories is about that fascinating game. She played tennis with a group which I joined later. She loved music and played the piano as I do. But above all, the thing we had most in common is our love of laughter!
Miriam, thank you for all the wonderful memories.

Miriam was a joyful addition to our writers club. Her humor and wisdom will certainly be missed. What a fulfilling life she led with family, friends and love of church. My thoughts and my prayers remain for her family and friends. Another angel in heaven.

So many fond memories growing up and hanging around with Pat. How Miriam made everyone who visited her home welcome... treasure hunts, dancing, singing, helping us put on a play. Thanks for the many smiles when I remember those things... Annlynn (Brier) McCauley
