Mary Ann Fischer-Stewart nee Mitchell. Age 87. St John Resident, formerly of South Holland and Chicago's South Chicago Neighborhood. Volunteer at the Shrine of Christ Passion in St John, Indiana. Also former longtime member of the South Holland Garden Club. Wife for 40 years of the late Vernon Fischer. Mother of Warren (Julie) Fischer, Christopher (Deborah) Fischer and the late Cherie Lynne Fischer-Hon. Grandmother of Nicholas (Ashley) Hon, Sarah Hon, Ryan and Molly Fischer, Alexandra (Joseph) Calderisi, Ashleigh, Aidan, Ava and Arianna Fischer.
Great grandmother of Briley Roper and Jonas Hon. Wife for 20 years of the late Thomas Stewart. Loving step-mother of Susan (Ed) Olmos, Donald (Dawn) Stewart and Pamella (Jim) Willett. Dearest grandmother of Arielle (Juan) Ortiz, Andrew (Amanda) and Annalee Willett, Bethann (Aaron) Kolesar, Jon (Ali) Szabo, Bill (Kristy) Szabo, Nick (Sarah) Stewart, Sarah and Emily Stewart. Great grandmother of Mila, Laila and Madison Willett, Hayden and Ben Kolesar, Evan and Vaida Szabo, Taylor Wheeler-Szabo, Nora, Kyla, Gaia and Teddy Stewart . Daughter of the late Sylvia nee Konieczka and Walter Mitchell. Sister of David Scott (Adele) Mitchell and the late Roberta Beverly Thomas and Audrey (late George) Jones. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place Friday, December 19, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. starting at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel located at 11300 West 97th Lane, St. John, IN proceeding to St. John the Evangelist Church Day Chapel at the corner of 93rd & Wicker Ave, St. John, IN for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City.
