Mary Celestine Obituary

Celestine, Mary A. Mary Tillis was born on March 17, 1926 and was raised in Elba, AL. She completed her education at Spring Hill School. She accepted Christ at an early age, joining Collin Chapel Church in Alabama. Mary moved to Maywood, IL in 1952, and joined Canaan A.M.E. Church, where she worked in many organizations. She served on the Stewardess Board as President for many years. Mary was a woman of great integrity and non-apologetic about loving the Lord She met and married the love of her life, Edward Celestine, who preceded her in death. Mary completed her journey on Monday, April 10, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family.Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Patsy King; grandfather, John Hall; aunt, Johnnie Gay; sister, Johnnie Engram; two brothers, Willie Hall and Wallace Hall and one granddaughter, Carolotta J. Redmond. Mary leaves to cherish, three daughters, Mary Sue Redmond, Betty Cannon (Warren) and Jennifer Lockett; three granddaughters, Yolanda Black, Lydia Redmond and Kyana Cannon; two grandsons, Brian Black and Warren A. Cannon (Tunisha); great-grandchildren, Paul Black, Kyler Redmond, Taneya Boens, Jelani Brown, Avie Cannon and a hos of other relatives, friends; great-niece, Amber Hall and special caretaker, Linda Murphy.
