Garfien, Joseph M. age 96, Founder of U.S. Gear Corporation, beloved husband of the late Reva (nee Richman), loving father of Sharlene (Don) Garfield, Mark (Nancy) Garfien and Barbara (Robert Berner) Garfien, devoted grandfather of Jim (fiancee Elizabeth Farnan), Craig (Aimee Crow), Joey (Becca Waller) and Elena Garfield, Debbie (Michael) Garfien Morris and Chuck Garfien, Nessia, Catherine and Julia Berner. Extra proud great-grandfather of Ezra and Lila Garfield and Lula Garfield, also survived by the Siegman and Sobel families and many loving relatives and friends. Services Friday, May 6, 2005, 2 p.m., at Weinstein Funeral Home, North Shore Chapel, 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Anita Stone Jcc, 3400 W. 196th, Flossmoor, IL, 60422 or to Beth Emet Synagogue, 1224 W. Dempster, Evanston, IL, 60202. Very sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Condolences from the Hoffman family. We're distant cousins of Reva's. He and Reva came to my Bar Mitzvah years ago. I remember them both fondly.
