Marilyn: You many not remember me but I met you a few times with Jimmy. Jimmy was a very special man. When my wife passed away on 9/11/2008 Jimmy sang at the Barrington Presbyterian Church and Biltmore Country Club. Jimmy had been a Friend for about 15 years. I am so sorry to just hear about his passing. Please accept my sincere condolences to you, your children and family. He will be missed. I have been traveling out of the country for the past month. Best regards, Len Mauceli

From 1979 to 2009(30 years)I saw Jimmy perform around 10 times. He said "My friend Corwin is here" when I saw him at Arnie's
Supper Club in Chicago in 10/92. I thought that was cool. When he signed his autograph for me on his poster he wrote "Corwin you're the best". I thought that was cool. The last time I saw him(7/09 at the Italian American Society golf outing and dinner in Springfield) he got a standing ovation during the song My Way. I sat at the table with him, and he gave me a big hug when I left. I didn't think I would never see him again. I'll see him again when I get to Heaven. He was a Christian(We talked about it). To me he was the best singer I've ever heard in my life and I've seen Elvis, etc. He was at least as good as Frank Sinatra or anyone. I didn't know about his passing until a couple of days ago when I was checking on the computer to see if he was playing the State Fair this year. I'm going to send Marilyn a sympathy card.

Dear Damon Family,
Jimmy spent many years singing at the Athens Supper Club in the 70s, when my family came to know him. He always sounded great and had one particular thing that few people have...CLASS. Please accept my condolences,

Marilyn and Family: Sincerest condolences on your great loss. I was shocked when you called me to share the news. He was a good friend and a great human being. He made my feel at home in Chicago during my stint with American Express. He always would say that he never left home without it...his Platinum Card. I can hear him singing with Frank, Dean and Sammy.
Nancy joins me in offering our condolences. Our thoughts are prayers are with you.
Love.....

Jimmy Damon was a dear friend and colleague. I loved working with Jimmy on the many promotions and charity events that we did together over our 40 year friendship. All you had to do is ask Jimmy and he would be there for you. Jimmy was like family. Jimmy was my late, great Aunt Lila Koplan's favorite singer and Jimmy sang at her funeral. Somewhere Jimmy Damon is singing with the angels and swigging on a Jack Daniels. God Bless.

Dear Marilyn & Family:
I worked with Jimmy at the Cousins Club on Superior Street back in the late 1960's. He was a wonderful singer and a great human being, always smiling and wonderful to work with. I would bring out of town guests to hear him sing at the Pump Room . Everybody loved to hear Jimmy sing "Chicago" . He loved singing but he loved his family the most. With Deepest Sympathy to you and the Family.

I volunteered at Holy Name Cathedral's Christmas Day Dinner from 1991 through 2009. We served 300 meals and were treated to an orchestra caroling our guests, the homeless of Chicago. My very first year, as I was scrubbing the pots and pans at the back sink, barely able to hear the music, I got a tap on my shoulder and I turned around to see the singer, a well dressed blond guy, extending his hand and wishing me a Merry Christmas. I looked for a clean towel to dry my hands, but he said, "Don't be so formal. I'm Jimmy, Merry Christmas." I said, I'm Greg, Merry Christmas to you!"
It happened every Christmas Day just like that for 19 years. Jimmy would come back to shake my hand and wish me well. As talented and entertaining as he was, he was just as human and humble. He called me by name whether we were wearing name tags or not.
When Alexa and Dana were home for the Holidays and volunteering like the rest of us, Jimmy proudly introduced them to me.
I will always keep your dad in mind, as part of my Christmas, a great guy who made sure to catch up with me every year, in between belting out his beautiful songs.
I share your loss. I am so happy I knew Jimmy Damon.

Dear FB friends,
This is just an update of the service I attended for my dear friend & partner for over 40 years. I just want to express to whoever reads this, that there has never been any person or persons I've worked with that had such joy & happiness when they were singing as Jimmy Damon. The priest gave a lovely and inspiring message of his memories of Jimmy after knowing him even longer than I did. He even Baptized Jimmy & Marilyn's daughters, Dana & Alexa.
Jimmy use to sing for the Priest's mother at various functions, and when Jimmy gave his mother a CD of his, she insists on playing in her home, even now, and she is 98 years old.
I was very impressed by the tremendous turnout of well-wishers and friends. People I haven't seen for years. Jimmy would have been delighted to see such a gathering of love. I am proud to have arranged, played, and performed with Jimmy these many years. I shall miss him tremendously. RIP! Dear friend!

Chicago's marquee is one light dimmer. But the spirit of Jimmy Damon will never leave the building. A Grecian idol who put family first. And brought equal joy to mayors, newlyweds, politicians, even the homeless (Christmas dinners Holy Name). e??aµe ??a p??? ?a?? p?t? µa??, t??a ?a e?ste

Dear Marilyn and Family,
You probably don't remember us but we lived in the building for around a year and made everlasting friendships with many dog owners along with their pets. You were just such a loving couple and we are so happy we had the pleasure of getting friendly with you both and most of all going to Jimmy's concerts at Navy Pier.
Our son mentioned just the other day he had never seen us happier. It was meeting such a lovely couple as you and Jim and those great walks and conversations.
The world is now short another loving husband, father and son. May the Angels watch over him in heaven! RIP

Jimmy was the consummate entertainer. He loved to sing and make people happy with his performance. It didn't matter where he performed - from the smallest intimate living rooms to the larger ballrooms and venues for large crowds - Jimmy had the knack of getting the audience involved. We were working a charity event outdoors in Florida, and the only lighting was from the hurricane lamps on the tables. Jimmy stood on a chair so the audience would be able to see where he was at - a very smart move. He paid me the ultimate compliment when we worked together by giving me the show opener and then asking me "What are we doing next?" We had great times whenever we worked - on the road or here in town. He was a class act and he will be missed.

Marilyn, my deepest sympathies and condolences to you and your family. I was just talking about you and Jimmy to some friends Friday night about how we were able to jump the line for my birthday lunch at Planet Hollywood many, many years ago when we worked together at Infinity Management. I was so saddened to hear about Jimmy's passing the following day. On a happier note, I see that both your lovely daughters are married now and that you're a grandma too! You've been in my thoughts and prayers.

We met Jimmy at a charitable function (14 yrs ago) and knew he would be a fabulous entertainer at our wedding. On our wedding day, it was the hottest day of the year, but Jimmy had on his tux on with his bandmates! (Our reception was outside.) He lead our friends in fabulous songs which we have on video. He always had a smile and was such a positive individual. We later saw him at other functions and shared that our friends (to this day) say our receiption was the best fun. Everyone loved Jimmy. He will be always in our hearts.
