Out of my where-are-they-now curiosity I did an online search for my grade school buddy, Freddie Wray. How sad I was to learn of his illness and passing yet so proud of what he had accomplished in his life. Fred and I attended Catholic grade school and grew up together in Detroit. We share a love of hockey and both of us were goalies. Had not seen Fred since 1967, yet my memories of him are still strong de adds later. That is the kind of impact he had on others even at a young age. So proud to have known him. Ironically, I now have three sons in school in Chicago (Loyola) one a marketing major. Small world indeed, made infinitely better by Freds presence in it.

Krista,

I always wished I could have worked with Fred. We tried a couple of times to figure out how, but never quite made it work. He was a great guy and the world is better off for having had him in it. I know that everyone who knew him will agree. May you find comfort in your memories and the knowledge that he is at peace.

Dear Krista,

My sister told me about what happened to your husband and I wanted to share with you something you probably already understand.

Your husband is a spiritual being and he continues as we all will. I believe one's loss is often another's joy and happiness(death to birth again).

My love to you and your children. If you need anything we are available and ready to help.

Sincerely,

Sarah Page Wells.

Dear Krista,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I was Fred's assistant at Initiative prior to his last leave. Though we did not work together long, he always spoke about you and your children with an extra gleam in his eyes.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Aimee Starratt

Fred Wray was my hero. He was always blaizing trails in the advertising world. He was truly ahead of his time....a global media director before the word "unbundled" even hit our vocabulary. But, even more important, he was a wonderful husband to my dear friend, Krista and a proud father to Cameron and Hunter. He was simply a good man, and we are all the better for having known him. I will miss him..

Krista, may you take some comfort in the strength and grace you have shown over these past few years. You are truly amazing.

Love,

Judy

Dear Aunt Krista and Cousins Cameron and Hunter,

Words cannot express our sadness at Uncle Freddy's passing. We never stopped praying for him. He will be missed in so many ways, but we'll forever cherish the memories, from some crazy birthday parties in Chicago to wonderful Thanksgivings and Christmases in Michigan. Krista, Cameron and Hunter, always know your Michigan Aunts and Uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins will be here for you.

Great guy. I had the privilege of having Fred as a good friend, lunch and business companion during the dot.com/hot,com/not.com days - riding the Cisco share price and wondering if and when certain people would get a clue. We didn't hold our breath.

I remember our last lunch - even with that large dark cloud on the horizon - there was always a reason to laugh and appreciate the good in the world - even those whose main contribution was to give us one more reason to laugh. Always had a good time with Fred - didn't everybody?

And one more thing about Fred - we should all remember - he knew how lucky he was. Krista, the kids, the house, the life he had - and even the gift of these last few years. He almost missed them but for a casual doctor visit. He treasured those years, those months, those days - that extra time he was given. He used it well - it was also a gift to us - his friends - so that we could have that last lunch, that last laugh, that last visit, and that last round of golf.

By the way… I never did ask Fred. What was up with the clicking mouth/tooth thing? It was sort of like his punctuation. Remember?

Well, whatever it was, I think I will do it at least once a day in his memory.

Dear Krista, Cameron and Hunter,

We are so sorry to hear of your loss; we'll remember Fred's energy and smile, and in particular some incredible times working for Fred at FCB.

Fred would have probably found it funny that one of my more enduring memories of him is the day that almost noone from FCB media showed up for that media party. Fred was so mad at all of us (and, of course, he was right). It was just one of many times when Fred showed us all his sense of commitment and responsibility.

Dearest Krista, Cameron and Hunter -

Our most heart-felt condolences to you on the loss of a great husband, father and friend. You all have endured so much that we pray the Lord looks after and comforts all of you, and, has Fred close to his heart.

My friendship with Fred is something that I will always cherish. With Danny, "Mark and Mark", Fred and myself, we had so many fun times that no one can replicate - but we can always look back on those memories with warmth and fondness. Additionally, the care and support the two of you showed to Anne and myself is something we so deeply appreciated.

God Bless Fred - God bless the Wray Family.

With love,

Anne and Joe Vinci & family
