Esmond Edwards Obituary

Edwards, Esmond died January 20, 2007, in Santa Barbara, CA. Born October 29 1927, Edwards immigrated to Harlem from Jamaica. He was a jazz producer at Prestige, headed the Verve label for MGM in 1967, was VP of A&R for Chess Records in 1970, one of the first African-American recording execs. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; son, step-daughter, sister, and two nieces. There is a memorial service February 10, 2007, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Unitarian Neighborhood Church, 301 N.
