Carl Peterson Obituary

I met Carl through Shannon toward the end of his life. He was gentle and kind and warm-hearted with a lively intellect and open mind. The world was better for his time here!

Carl could always talk to you about anything. He made the most of his life and enhanced everyone else's. I hope someone will tell the raccoons. They and I will miss him.

I know there are no words to express how you feel at this time, but if words can help heal your pain of missing Carl, I want you to know I will miss him too. Be strong Shannon and I will see you soon.

Carl encouraged me to finish my degree and kept after me when I got discouraged about it. He was a gentle kind man I'm glad to call my friend. It was a blessing to know him.

Gentle Carl, yes, with a heart so big and warm that I know he is a twinkle in God's eye. He had his own special twinkle that helped put everything in perspective

There is no words to say at moments like this when someone we love is out of sight. If you remember just that; he is out of sight but not out of heart and mind. He is all around you in every sweet thing you see. So I know that it is hard right now but when you see the sun shining high and you feel a little breeze pass you by that is Carl smiling and saying hi. God Bless You

I suspect I made the reference librarians work harder than does any other GSU faculty member. I remember Carl as both competent and always friendly and caring. I was sorry when he left GSU. And I am sorry now. We will miss him.

Oliver Wendell Holmes once wrote that "a human mind once stretched to a new idea never returns to its former dimensions". Carl turned me into a pretzel.

Carl was a wonderful mentor and colleague during my tenure at Governors State. He was frank yet caring, informative yet humorous

and you'll never find a better Santa Claus at any Xmas party!

I can still feel his big bear hug.

I am honored to have known him and

he'll not be forgotten. My love and

sympathy to his family.

I have nothing but happy memories of Carl. He always had a kind word to go with his cheery disposition! I'm proud to have been able to call him my friend.

I've had the great pleasure of knowing Carl not only as a family member but as a friend. During the few times that we've actually seen each other, his conversations with me have been the most memorable. He will be missed.

An additional accomplishment is that he was a dear friend to many students and colleagues. We were blessed to have known him, and will miss him dearly.

A kind and gentle man that will be

missed. It was always a pleasure

to see him. There are few men in this life that impress me as just being a good person...my Father was

one and Carl another. I hope they

see each other on the other side.
