Yvonne Catherine Hayes, age 84, passed peacefully October 19, 2024 at Ohio Living Cape May. She had been in declining health for several years. In the days prior to her passing she was surrounded by her loving family who mourn her passing. Yvonne treasured her family and was a loving Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma. Her husband, James C. Hayes, preceded her in death on January 1, 2008. They were married on June 28, 1959. She was born October 28, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of the late Eddie Paul Blanchard and Annie Marie LeBlanc Blanchard.
Yvonne retired from Wilmington City Schools where she had worked as a cook. Following retirement, she and her husband enjoyed spending their winters in Florida and golfing at the Elks. She was a longtime member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Dennis (Michelle) Hayes of Washington Court House, Ohio and Cindy Williams of Wilmington, Ohio; a sister, Faye (Henry) Fortmayer of Marrero, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Andrew (Tori) Hayes, Garrett (Kylie) Williams, Kristen (Nick) Brown, and Sarah (Tyler) Uetrecht; two great-grandchildren, Cooper Hayes and Rynlee Uetrecht; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM, Monday, October 28, 2024 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 28, 2024 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry Street, Wilmington, Ohio. Interment will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery.

We have wonderful memories of our fun times at Riverest Park in Florida.  Yvonne always had a big smile and sunny disposition.  Our deepest sympathy to her family who she adored.  Sadly we are losing many of our Riverest friends.  Rest in peace dear Yvonne.  Jim will be happy to see you in heaven.  From your old Riverest friends with love,
