Barbara I. Fehnel, 83, of Danielsville, passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness, while in the care and love of her family on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg Campus in Bethlehem. Her beloved husband, Robert A. Fehnel, to whom she was married 63 years, recently passed away on March 12th.
Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Robert H. and Ruth Emily (Witzel) Gouldner, and a 1959 graduate of Lehighton High School. After graduation, Barbara began working in the apparel industry before dedicating her life to motherhood and raising a family. Later in life, she resumed her working career in the retail sector as a very successful assistant store manager for the former Lane Bryant Store, which was located in the Lehigh Valley Mall. Prior to retiring in 2020, Barbara was employed at the former PNC Bank in Bath, where she served as a teller and happily welcomed the public for 20 years, a testament to her professional work ethic.
At one with nature, she loved the outdoors and never missed an opportunity to worship the sun and bask in the swimming pool. Barbara was also known for having a "green thumb" and greatly enjoyed maintaining her vegetable and flower gardens. Always engaging, she actively kept her mind sharp by completing computer jigsaw puzzles. Barbara was a member of Emmanuel's Lutheran Church and The Golden Oldies social group that met every Friday afternoon at Blue Mountain Drive-In.
Barbara's legacy will live on in her children, Suzanne Husberger and husband, Jesse, of New Tripoli, Sheri Bollinger of Moore Township, Dennis Fehnel of Northampton, and Scott Fehnel and wife, Marni, of Coplay; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Beil of Danielsville; her loyal sister-in-law, Linda Floria and husband, James, of New Port Richey, Florida; Bailey, her pet dog and faithful companion; along with nieces and nephews.
