Alice Goldberger Siegel, aged 93, passed away on August 15, 2024, at home in Westport, CT. Born on September 24, 1930, in New York, NY, Alice was a beacon of kindness, empathy, and creativity throughout her life.
Alice held an MFA degree from New York University, which laid a foundation for her lifelong commitment to teaching and mentorship. She dedicated her career to the arts, teaching art to children in her home studio, New Cannan and Darien public schools, the Westport YMCA, and at the Inter-Community Camp in Westport. Additionally, Alice taught art education to many future art teachers as an instructor at Norwalk Community College and Housatonic Community College.
Alice was an active member of the Cedar Point Yacht Club, the Westport Garden Club, The Westport Historical Society, and the Westchester Orchid Society. Her love for nature, gardening, and community was evident through her involvement and the joy she brought to these organizations.
Survived by her sons, Jeff Siegel (Mindy), Andrew Siegel (Tracy Nashel); grandchildren Jaclyn Epstein (Asher), Rebecca Bacon (Alex), Leah Nashel, and Elliot Siegel; and great-grandchildren Avery and Jade Epstein. Alice's legacy of love and enthusiasm remains vibrant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Siegel, her sister, Polly Raizen, and her brother, Robert Goldberger.
A celebration of Alice's life will be held on September 15th, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Planned Parenthood of Connecticut. Alice's life was a testament to the beauty of embracing both the intellectual and natural worlds, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
