SHERRY CHAMBERS Obituary
SHERRY RENEE CHAMBERS
Sherry Renee Chambers joined her Lord and Savior on July 8, 2024. She was born June 29, 1959 in Prince Frederick, Maryland to Saundra Helen (Higginbothan) and Johnny Lee Mears. Sherry was strong in her faith, never met a stranger, and selfless, always ready to help someone in need. A 1978 graduate of Waxahachie High School, Sherry accomplished many things. She worked as a cosmetologist, substitute teacher, but was first and foremost a Domestic Goddess. She devoted her life to the love and care of her family. Sherry took John Boyd Chambers, Jr. as her beloved husband on September 2, 1977, after only knowing each other for two weeks. Their love created a beautiful family of three sons Anthony, Jason, and Jeremy, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and 47 years of devotion.
As a child, Sherry had trouble saying her /r/'s and would introduce herself as "Shelwy Mills" in the most charming way. Her loved ones will fondly remember her feisty, outgoing, compassionate nature, displayed throughout her life. She was fond of the color pink, loved crafting and sewing, had an extensive tea pot and china collection, and adored her golden doodle Goldie. Sherry could often be found listening to 60s and 70s music and especially enjoyed Yanni and Alan Jackson. Resident Alien was her favorite TV show, and she always liked the movie Steel Magnolias. Many memories were made every Christmas, where Sherry would decorate the home from top to bottom. She looked forward to the family getting together. Sherry's family was the most important thing in her life, second only to her faith. Her most treasured roles were Mama, Grandma, and Granny Sherry. She loved fierce and strong, her greatest wish to keep her family close and together.
Sherry was a woman of immense faith. She studied the Bible often and would share her faith with the children of the family through Bible stories. A long time member of College Street, now Brown Street, Church of Christ she gave back to her community teaching Sunday School and Mother's Day Out. Sherry leaves a legacy of unwavering faith, immense love, and selflessness that will be felt for generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her father Johnny Lee Mears; biological mother Saundra Helen Higginbothan; brother Ricky Mears; step-father Bobby Nix Sr.; and Goldie, her beloved goldendoodle.
Sherry is survived by her beloved husband John Boyd Chambers Jr., sons Anthony Christian Chambers, Jason Michael Chambers and daughter in love Nicole Downs, Jeremy Boyd Chambers and wife Cassie Jo Adamson; mother Judy Ellen Shaw and husband Rex; brothers Randall Lynn Mears and wife Shelly, Ronald Lane Mears and wife Vicky; sister Rhonda LouAnn Mears Smith and husband Stephen; step-brothers Bobby Dale Nix, Alyn Nix, Johnny Nix and wife Cari; step-sister Tonya Nix Hoffmann; grandchildren Destiny Nicole Griffith and husband Logan, Dylan Lee Maddox and wife Courtney, Avery Boyd Chambers, Kylee Reese Chambers, Brice Ethan Chambers, Dennis Paul Adamson IV, Harper Joleigh Adamson; great grandchildren Grayson Nash Griffith, Madelyn Noelle Griffith, Kasen Lee Maddox; and many more Mears and Chambers family members.
