Janis Hennings Obituary

Janis Hennings, 67, of Tripoli, died with family by her side on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Unity Point/Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Janis was born on January 16, 1956, the daughter of Wilbert and Pauline (Judisch) Frahm. She grew up attending Grace Lutheran Church where she was baptized on February 5, 1956 and confirmed on April 4, 1971. Janis had two children, Eve and Eric. She met her husband Steve on New Year's Eve in 1990. They married at The Little Brown Church on June 3, 1994. Janis enjoyed being at home making her lists, watching HGTV and completing word puzzle books. She found joy in spoiling her grandchildren and spending time with all of her family.

Janis attended Tripoli Schools, graduating in 1974. After graduation she went through nurses training at Sumner Hospital. After her training she started working at Allen Hospital in Waterloo. At the end of her career at Allen in 1999, she was working as a physical therapy technician. Upon resigning from Allen, Janis worked as an in-home day care provider until she retired in 2019. She loved each of her daycare kids just like they were her own.

Janis is survived by her husband, Steve; her children, Eve (Ryan) Pautsch of Denver, Iowa and Eric (Kelly) Phillips of Spirit Lake, Iowa; five grandchildren, Grant, Miles and Henry Pautsch of Denver, and Eli and Reese Phillips of Spirit Lake; mother, Pauline Frahm of Denver, Iowa; four siblings, Maureen Oberbroeckling of Sumner, Brenda Buenzow of Readlyn, Janell and Keith Staack of Shell Rock, and Brian and Brenda Frahm of Charles City; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition she is survived by her mother-in-law, Ruth Hennings of Sumner; two brothers-in-law, David Hennings of Mead, Colorado and Tom (Joan) Hennings of Waterloo; and one sister-in-law, Sue (Harvey) Carey of Manzanola, Colorado.

Janis is preceded in death by her father, Wilbert Frahm; sister, Diane Foster; father-in-law, Bill Hennings; three brothers-in-law; Jim Oberbroeckling, Rich Buenzow, and Bob Foster; and her grandparents
