Barbara Bonfiglio
Barbara joined her beloved husband, Frank Bonfiglio (1999), and their son, Frank J. Bonfiglio (2016), on July 6, 2025. Barbara was born July 26, 1935, to Edward and Nina Talty in Washington D.C. The family moved to Toledo when she was 13 years old.
Barbara and Frank met and married in Erie, MI, where they resided for 58 years. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Vincent in Toledo, and retired in 1999.
Our mom was an accomplished seamstress making her family's clothing, quilts and home decorating items. She also had a passion for knitting, making beautiful afghans, socks and whatever else her family needed. Mom was an avid reader, scrabble player and genealogy buff.
Mom loved gardening and enjoyed being outdoors. She canned the vegetables that her husband grew and fed her family with healthy food all year round.
Her greatest role, however, was being an awesome mom and even better grandma. She took care and made sure her grandkids had what they needed to succeed in life.
Mom is survived by her children, Paul (Pamela) Bonfiglio, Lisa (Robert) Hoye, Theresa Bonfiglio, Nina (Jim) Avolt and Mary Bonfiglio; grandchildren, Paul (Stephanie), Evan, and Andrew Bonfiglio, Patricia (Richard) Lloyd, Nina (Gilbert) Rodriguez, Ashleigh (Uri) Passin, Megan (Therron) Gleason, Katie (Mark) McDonagh, Anthony Hoye, Benjamin (Angie) Palicki, Tate Bonfiglio, James Avolt, Theron (Frankie) Wineinger, and Wesley Wineinger; great-grandchildren, Gilbert, Justice, Myles, Christian, Carson, Dayton, Ava, Luca, Madelana, Tara, Audrey, and Nora; sister, Liz Talty (Charlie Johnson); niece, Emma (Mat); nephew, Liam; great-nephew, Oliver; and great-niece, Penelope; as well as pet, Mr. Orange Cat.
In addition to her parents; husband, Frank; and son, Frank; she was preceded in death by her nephew, Joshua; brother, Peter; and great-granddaughter, Ruby.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's Research, The Grove memory care, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or Smile Train.
We want to thank all the nurses and aides at The Grove and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their kindness, caring and patience with our mother.
A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, Ohio 43611, followed by a time of sharing memories at 3:00 p.m. Barbara will be interred privately in Roselawn Memorial Park, La Salle, MI.
