Johnson, Helen T.
MECHANICVILLE - Helen T. Johnson, 93, longtime Halfmoon resident, passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, on Monday, July 8, 2024, after a brief illness. Born in Troy on March 28, 1931, daughter of the late Stephen and Clara Kokoszka Bielawa, she graduated from Watervliet High School.
Helen was a Stenographer and for most of her working career, and also as an Administrative Assistant, working for NYS Miscellaneous Tax Bureau, Montgomery Ward, and finally for Russell Sage College, Troy, where she retire from in 1996.
She enjoyed playing bocce, Sequence, and was also a good card player whose favorite games were Pinochle and Gin. A was a faithful and dedicated member of the Corpus Christi Church most of her adult life.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Walter C. Johnson.
Survivors include her two daughters and their husbands, Susan and James Fuschino, Jr. of Mechanicville, Kathy and Jeff Smith of Florence, South Carolina; grandchildren, James (Meghan) Fuschino, III and Sarah Smith; and great-granddaughters, Isabella and Sophia Fuschino. She is also survived brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Ann Bielawa of Latham and Linda and Louis Santa Barbara of Rensselaer; and her nephews, Robert (Nancy) and David (Michelle).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 11 a.m., at Corpus Christi Church, 2001 Route 9, Round Lake, N.Y. 12151. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Watervliet. Calling hours prior to Mass, from 9:30-11 a.m., will be held at the church.
