Kristen Dougherty Obituary

JERMYN — Kristen M. Dougherty, 50, of Jermyn, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at home with her husband and best friend of 19 years, Jack Dougherty, and her two sons, Aniello "Nello" and Dominic, by her side.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of Martin "Ernie" and Gay Roberts Stahley. A graduate of Wyoming Area High School, Class of 1992, she also attended Luzerne County Community College. Prior toher illness she was employed as a value stream manager for Simona America of Archbald.

Kristen will be remembered for her unselfishness, caring nature, her love of family and friends, and the unbreakable love and devotion she held for her two sons. Kristen's love for her family pets: four dogs and three cats, could be seen in the twinkle of her eye when she greeted each one. She was their mom.

Her co-workers at Simona were much more than just co-workers. They were her family away from home. She would always say,"I love my job and the people I work with." She had one of the smartest business minds out there. She was unanimously elected to Jermyn city council in 2018, proudly served for four years, and helped the town and its residents move forward within those four years.

Kristen was able to watch her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers win one last time. If you knew Kristen, you knew she would wear some form of Steelers apparel each day, one way or the other.

To say she was strong was an understatement. She fought the disease like a brave warrior to the very end, and held her ground so well, the very strongest of us all would be in envy. She didn't lose the battle; God just needed another champion.

Kristen's family would like to thank all the family and friends that sent so many prayers, messages of encouragement and total outpouring of love since it all started. It meant more than anyone can imagine. A special thank you goes out to her very good friend, Maryann Kundla Chupron, who was there from the beginning to the end. Thank you to Anna Rinaldi and to the entire staff at Simona. She really did love you all.

Also surviving are a brother, Eric Stahley and wife Jennifer, Catawissa; nephew, Jacob Stahley; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of Kristen's life will be held at a later date and venue, soon to be announced.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton.

She was a wonderful Mother and friend to animals. Such a painful loss. Her sons have benefitted from her class as a great human. They can be forever proud of her and soo lucky to have experienced a great Mom. She is beautiful inside and out. A loss for all of us. Sympathy to her family. Condident that she has raised superior, strong humans and her sons hopefully flourish in her grace.

Kristen was my good friend throughout high school. I remember having so much fun together being silly! We loved watching Saturday Night Li e and would go camping with her parents & to her Mom's dog shows. We were both big animal lovers. I am so saddened to hear she has passed on. She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. My condolences to her family and friends.
