Robert (Bob) Emmett Finagan, 68, of Kingsley, passed away suddenly Tuesday upon arrival at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, Denise Finagan (Post).
Bob was born on Oct. 8, 1955, in Hackensack, N.J., the son of the late Thomas and Marie Hollers Finagan. He dedicated many years to his career, retiring as a quality control manager from Action Lift, Pittston, and previously serving as a manager at Kane Warehousing, Scranton, for 20 years. Bob was also a former Gibson Twp. supervisor and a devoted member of St. Martin of Tours Church, Jackson.
Bob's life was rich with outdoor pursuits, hobbies and passions. He took joy in tending to his lawn and landscaping, as well as spending cherished moments with his grandchildren. Bob's love for fixing things and his knack for fixing everything they broke earned him the title of the family's go-to handyman. He had a deep appreciation for classic cars, often attending car shows with his daughters. Bob and Denise shared a love for exploration, relishing in drives to new destinations, discovering local gems and embracing nature's beauty. Bob especially loved visiting a good local diner for a mushroom-swiss burger.
Animals held a special place in Bob's heart, particularly his beloved dogs, Truman and Fergus, as well as his wife's cat, Shamus. He treasured his family above all else, defining success as finding joy in life, family and friends. Known for his immense kindness and compassion, Bob touched the lives of many.
He is survived by his three daughters, Melissa Selenski and husband, Larry, of Dalton; Janine Gutierrez and husband, Joe, of Shavertown; and Breanne Finagan, of West Wyoming; four cherished grandchildren, Adalyn, Grace, Alyse and Bridget; and one sister, Ellen Sdobnev and husband, Eugene, of Tucson, Ariz.; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Foster and her husband, Phil; as well as his nephews, Matthew Foster and David Kurdyla.
A memorial service will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Church, Jackson. Attendees are kindly asked to proceed directly to the church.
