Jane Hartwell Obituary

Jane L. Hartwell, age 85, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

Born in Brockton, MA on October 16, 1938, she was a loving daughter of the late Edward A., Jr. and Florence (Clark) Hartwell.

Jane grew up in town and was a 1956 graduate of Mansfield High School. She continued her education, graduating in 1959 from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing school and remained an active member of the Nursing Alumni.

Prior to retiring, Jane was a Registered Nurse and employed at the former Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Attleboro and the former Pondville Hospital in Norfolk. She also served as a loving caregiver to her late parents.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was like a grandmother to her friend's children. Jane will always be remembered for the special place in her heart for the cats that frequented her home throughout the years.

She was the dear sister of Edward A. Hartwell, III of Stephentown, New York. She was the cherished aunt of Alison Hartwell Petraco and her husband Nick of Forest Hills, New York, Matthew Hartwell and his wife Dawn of Sloansville, New York and the great aunt of Henry Petraco and Jacob Petraco.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, November 28th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

Burial will take place at a later date at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.

In lieu of flowers, Jane's family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Mansfield Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 25, Mansfield, MA 02048.
