Robert Furlong
Robert Thomas "Rob" Furlong, 73, of St. Simons Island, passed away on May 30, 2024. Born on Oct. 13, 1950, to the late Robert and Ursula Furlong in Denver, Rob is remembered for his strong work ethic, ambition and immense love for his family.
In his youth, Rob began working various odd jobs such as the newspaper route, shoveling snow and was even a member of the junior ski patrol.
After graduating from high school, he went on to work for John B. Daniels Pharmaceuticals, Shoney's and The Filling Station before delving into the world of entrepreneurship. Rob began his business from the ground up, starting with pay telephones and later ATMs and air machines.
When he was not working, Rob could often be found outdoors, he enjoyed driving his Corvette Sting Ray and you could always find him on a tractor or mower, prior to moving to St. Simons. With Suzy, his wife of 11 years, they enjoyed bike riding, kayaking, walking, floating in the pool and traveling to what they came to know as their "Happy Place" in St. Kitts/Nevis, West Indies.
He is survived by his wife, Suzy Furlong of Georgia; sister, Janice Kefalas of Colorado; children, Mark Furlong (Lynn) of Colorado, Jason Furlong of Colorado, Deann Grant (Chris) of Georgia, Christina Hunter (Josh) of Georgia, Merissa Mimbs (Jason) of Georgia, Ross Furlong (Caroline) of Georgia, Ryan Furlong (Ashley) of Georgia, and Katelyn Navarro (Gary) of Georgia; stepchildren, Megan Leatherwood (Jacob) of Georgia, and Amanda Richardson (John Paul) of Georgia; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ursula Furlong; as well as his brother, Mike Furlong.
