Carol Cornelius Obituary

Mrs. Pauline Carol Cornelius, beloved wife of Evert D. Cornelius, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Wellstar MCG after a lengthy struggle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the Bellevue Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Austin Anderson officiating. Entombment will follow the service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00.
Mrs. Cornelius was born in Gaffney, SC on January 23, 1947, to Paul and Gwendolyn Dorman. She graduated from Gaffney High School in 1965 and then received her degree from Winthrop College in 1969. She moved to Augusta that same year and went to work for the Richmond County school system, where she was a teacher and media specialist. During this time, she earned a master's in media from the University of South Carolina. She retired after 34 years of service.
Carol and her husband, Evert, enjoyed traveling. There were many trips to the beach at Hilton Head, and they made many fond memories during a month-long trip to Europe. Time spent with family and friends gave her much enjoyment.
In addition to her husband of 52 years, Evert, she is survived by her sister, Deardre Wilson (Steve), her nieces, Angie Vinson (Gaylon) and Christy Stradley (Joe), her nephew, David Wilson, and several grandnieces and nephews.
