Mary Hedges Obituary

Mary Helen Boudreaux Hedges was a resident of Port Allen and native of Plaquemine. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was 87. Visitation will be at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 9:30 am till 11:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am Conducted by Rev. Jerry Martin. Entombment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Brusly. She is survived by three daughters: Theresa Hedges Doiron, Cynthia Hedges Matherne and spouse David and Mary Kay Hedges Alford and spouse Ken; one son: Darron Joseph Hedges and spouse Karen; two brothers: Walter J. Boudreaux and spouse Barbara and Earl Joseph Boudreaux and spouse Jane; eleven grandchildren: Shaun, Ashley, Chad, Melissa, Brandi, Dustin, Amanda, Travis, Jennifer, Maureen and Morgan; and twenty-one great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph "Henry" Hedges, parents: Aston P. Boudreaux and Anna Lena Acosta Boudreaux; sister: Jeanette B. Roussel; brother: Roy P. Boudreaux; and son-in-law Brian "Wiggle" Doiron. Pallbearers will be her son, grandsons, and sons-in-law. Mary Helen was a loving mother and granny. She was a member of the WBR Council on Aging, a volunteer at Holy Family School, she was a hilarious card shark who loved winning everyone's money. She also loved playing bingo and Pokeno. She had a passion for music, especially Reba McEntire, and dancing, and loved everyone to the moon and back and beyond. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
