Kathy Carson Obituary
May 7, 1954 - July 1, 2025
Kathy Nichols Carson departed this life in her Rocheport, Missouri home on July 1, 2025. She was born in St. Louis and graduated from Ritenour High School. After completing her B.S. in Physical Education and Minoring in Music at Southeast Missouri State University, she taught in the public schools, served as a program administrator for the Division of Higher Education of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), directed musical ensembles in several churches, and taught pre-school. In addition to St. Louis, she also lived in Ft. Worth, Texas and Columbia, Missouri, eventually retiring in Rocheport, Missouri. Her church involvement was deep, her loyalty to friends and family strong, and joy in life contagious. She always strived for justice in an unjust world and her generous light will be missed.
She is survived by her husband Tim of Rocheport, brother Kirby of Boston, stepdaughter Savannah of Rocheport, half-brother Matthew Nichols of St. Louis and half-sister Natalie Morgenstein of Columbia, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Kathy will be honored in a memorial service on Saturday, July 12, 11 a.m., at the Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia, Missouri.

Kathy and I were lifelong friends. We grew up going to Overland Christian Church and our families were often together. Kathy and I loved singing duets together and always enjoyed being together. I will miss my dear friend and my thoughts and prayers are with Tim. Mary Hatfield Haltiner

I was blessed to be able to share in musical groups with Kathy: Chancel Choir, Chancel Bells, and Rocheport Bluegrass services. She was a musician with a beautiful soprano voice, and a warm & welcoming spirit to all. Praying for God's peace and grace to bless Rev. Tim and family.

I have wonderful memories of my cousin Kathy. I loved to hear her sing. Although I was 4 years younger she would include me in conversation and often we would laugh till we cried. Time and distance kept us apart after we grew up, I regret not having seen her in such a long while. I´m sure she is singing praises heaven now.
