Peter Davies
Easthampton, MA - Peter Alan Davies, of Easthampton, MA, was born on May 4th, 1952, and passed away peacefully on August 28th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. In his final weeks, he chose to be closer to his daughter and family, spending cherished time in Lexington, KY.
Peter was the beloved son of the late Leslie Stanhope Davies Jr. and Margaret (Carpenter) Davies, and he was predeceased by his longtime partner, Claire Kaczmarcyk. He grew up in Hagaman, NY, attended Amsterdam High School, and graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with degrees in Psychology and Art History. After college, Peter traveled across the country, pursuing photography and working in the fashion industry alongside Skip Traverse in their business, Tossed Salad. In the late 1980s, he settled in the Pioneer Valley, where he found a new passion in real estate, launching a successful career that spanned decades.
An active member of the Realtor Association of Pioneer Valley (RAPV) since 1985, Peter contributed significantly to the organization, serving on the Government Affairs Committee from 2015 to 2023, the RAPV Board of Directors from 2017 to 2023, and the Massachusetts Association of Realtors (MAR) Board of Directors from 2020 to 2023. Residing in Easthampton, Peter was deeply involved in city government and the local arts community. His dedication to community development was evident in his efforts to secure grant funding for various projects that enriched the cultural and economic fabric of Easthampton. He also served as a lead assessor for the Town of Easthampton for 12 years, stepping down in 2024 due to health concerns.
Peter had a deep love for exploring the countryside, often embarking on rides to discover new places or revisit beloved spots. Whether with friends, family, his adored granddog Eleanor, or on his own, he had a knack for finding the best places to eat in New England-especially hot dog joints! A master storyteller, Peter's kindness and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He is survived by his daughter, Kate Davies, and her husband, Justin Hosley, of Lexington, KY; his granddaughter, Margaret Grace Hosley; and another granddaughter due in early September 2024.
A celebration of Peter's life will be held on Thursday, October 24th from 1-4pm at Graham Funeral Home, 18 Adams Street in Easthampton, MA, followed by a gathering at 4pm at the Brass Cat, at the corners of Cottage & Adams Street. For online Condolences, please visit
