Robert Gilbert Obituary

Robert "Bob" Lee Gilbert of Tow, Texas passed away peacefully the morning of Monday, September 2, 2024, with the love of his family surrounding him.

Bob was born on August 15, 1934, in Delano, California to Percy James and Mabel Rose. After he received his high school diploma from Delano Joint Union High School, Bob began his career as a truck driver at Gibson Concrete. Although Bob met the love of his life and his best friend, Deanna "Penny" while in high school, they didn't begin courting until 1951. Three years later he proposed marriage and on November 21, 1954, the two began their life as one.

In August 1955, Bob and Penny welcomed their first child, Jeffrey Gilbert. Eight years later, they welcomed their daughter, Sherri Lynn. Bob decided to make a career change and moved his sweet family to Tow, Texas in 1969. They purchased land on Lake Buchanan and opened Paradise Point Fishing Resort. With a small restaurant, tackle and bait shop, fishing dock and a dozen cabins, Bob and Penny enjoyed their life as business owners. Bob was a devoted husband and father with many passions including dancing, fishing and taking care of his family.

Bob will be missed by his wife of 70 years, Penny; children, Jeffrey Sr., Sherri (Sammy); grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr. (Mercedes), Alex (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Cohen, Corbin, Jayke, Sawyer; sister, Pat Crooks; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Mabel and Percy, and stepmom, Minnie.
