Scott Carper Obituary

Scott Donald Carper was born in Sacramento, California, July 19, 1975. He died on November 13, 2025, in Fair Oaks, California, just 50 years of age.

It is a hard thing to sum up a life cut short. So much done, but so much left to do.

Scott was truly a California boy. He lived in Sacramento, Stockton, Fair Oaks, Santa Barbara, Manhattan Beach and other South Beach Communities. He gave the valedictory address at Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks in 1993. Scott graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B. A. in both Law & Society and Communication. While at UCSB he engaged in many activities including but not limited to interning with the minority leader Richard Gephardt in The House of Representatives, running student travel programs, facilitating contestant participation in an MTV game shows and the MTV Beach house, President of his fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha and being selected by the University as the Chuck Loring 1997 Greek Man of the Year. Post baccalaureate, he completed a two-year certification course in real estate at the University of California at Los Angeles and obtained his real estate license. He also completed a course and received a certificate in in Paralegal studies.

After graduation from UCSB, he worked in advertising initially at BBDO West as a media consultant and later at OutFront Media, as a Senior Real Estate Asset Manager. OutFront Media was the latest version of several companies that devoured one another. Outdoor systems, Infinity Broadcasting, Viacom, and CBS. For Scott, it was the same company. In 2005, he received the MVP Award, at CBS Outdoor for Top Real Estate Representative in the United States.

Scott served on the University of California Santa Barbara Alumni Board of Directors.

He formed SCMN consulting company acting as CEO. While at SCMN consulting, he was a producer for several films including a short film "Life in Color.," It was featured at the Cannes Film Festival. Another film he produced was made by UCSB students, "Isla Vista: A Visual Album with Jack Johnson."

At time of his death, he worked with AGE advertising and in various capacities with White Collar Advice. There are other ventures in which he was a principal or participant and too many to mention. At the time of his death, he was nearing completion of a book on his thoughts about the federal justice system.

This above is a list of education, work and other activities but he was important for other reasons. He was a loving only child and only male grandchild and nephew to both his parent's families.

Scott's happy talent was as a confidant, mentor, friend, facilitator, creator and benefactor. He was larger than life. He was called Scotty, coops, carp and his favorite Red Thunder.

Several people from different stages of his life have shared that Scott had a talent to make others feel like they could accomplish anything. No matter what you told him, you did not fear that a confidence would be breached. It freed people to be candid in a way they otherwise would have feared to be. To try and capture Scotty's character, included are a few selected quotes from letters, communications and condolences. There are similarities and this is a small sample.

"I'm certain divine intervention introduced us at the perfect time. His work as an advocate forever changed lives. His love and support as a friend was unmatched. I can count on one hand the number of non-judgmental people I've talked with during my 53 years on earth, Scotty was one of them. He was a blessing. Life will never be the same."

"You put everyone before yourself, the most selfless man I know. Rest easy brother."

"Carper you changed my life for the better. At times when I was struggling you always had the right words to say. Knowing how to push me when I needed it and knowing when to console me when I need love. God works in mysterious ways and puts people in your life when it's needed the most. I know he put you in mine because I needed you and your kind words. Your openness, direct approach and loving words were proof of that. I watched you mentor men and never give up on them even when they have given up on themselves. You stood fast and breathed fresh air into a beaten man never giving up. It saddens me knowing that's all gone. Your love, drive and compassion will be greatly missed. I love you and I am proud to call you my friend."

"Scott was always there to make me feel better and install in me that I would make the best decision for myself."

"I knew from the moment we met there was something special about him. I could tell immediately he was is the type of person that you go to with your thoughts and concerns because he sorts through them with insight, honesty, creativity, and wisdom."

Every time I have a conversation with him, I end it feeling inspired and positive.

"Scott is a giver not a taker."

"Scott is a masterclass in discovering, deciphering, and mentoring talented leaders."

"I can say with confidence that Scott is one of the most caring and driven individuals I've ever worked with in my 55 years."

"Scott made me a better person at a very negative time and place - he was a true genuine person - when we did whatever needed to be done."

"A wonderful co-worker, my mentor and best friend."

"To call Scott a "friend" would be a grave understatement. HE WAS A BROTHER in every sense of the word and believed in me at a time I didn't believe in myself. We have truly lost a rare human being who radiated with positivity, drive and ambition."

"He was one of the best friends I ever had, and I'm grateful every day that he was part of my life."

"He put my happiness and wellbeing ahead of his. When I hurt, he hurt more. When I cried, he cried more. His ability to listen, even when I didn't think he was listening, was a superhuman skill"

"He was surrounded by people who cared for him, and it showed in the way he lived-with authenticity, warmth, and a heart that extended itself to others without hesitation."

He is survived by his mother and father Patricia and Donald Carper, aunts Karen Drexhage, Kathy Burney, Carolyn Mosher, and uncle Kevin Jenkins as well as 9 cousins. He is also survived by amazing friends too numerous to mention.

He was interred at Fair Oaks cemetery at 7780 Olive St, Fair Oaks, CA 95628 on December 5, 2025.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17th, 2026 2 p.m. at Northridge Country Club 7600 Madison Ave, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. The family invites all who knew him to attend and share their favorite memories.

Scott was a Proper Man.

Forever remembered. Forever loved.

May he rest in peace.

"The man of real excellence improves other people in five ways.

Some he transforms like rain in season;.

For others he perfects an excellence that already exists;.

For others he brings success to innate capacity;.

For others he proves answers to questions; and.

Others derive benefit in their own way."
