Bobbie Reed Obituary

Bobbie J. Reed

June 17, 1947 - July 8, 2024

Sacramento, California - Bobbie J. Reed, 77, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024, with her loving daughters by her side. Bobbie was a devoted mother, cherished friend, and a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew her.

Born in Sacramento on June 17, 1947, Bobbie grew up in the heart of the community, graduating from St. Francis High School in 1965, and later earning her B.A. in English & Social Work from CSUS in 1970. Bobbie's love of learning and desire to help others led her to a fulfilling career in education working as an elementary school teacher with SCUSD for almost 30 years.

When not teaching, Bobbie, an avid horsewoman, could often be found exploring the breathtaking backcountry of Northern California with her trusted equine companion, Cisco, and her cherished friends. She was a former member of the Sacramento Horsemen's Association, the American River Trail Patrol, the Sacramento Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team, and a dedicated volunteer with Project Ride. Bobbie's selfless commitment to service was yet another testament to her lifelong legacy of unwavering kindness, compassion, and generosity.

Bobbie approached life with a playful sense of humor and a relentless sweet tooth. She loved history, researching genealogy, treasure hunting with her metal detector, ceramics, gardening, listening to old-timey country music, and asking Alexa random questions. But most of all, Bobbie loved and cherished her family.

An amazing mother and grandmother ("Gigi"), Bobbie is survived by her loving daughters, Katie Orsburn (Mike) and Nicole Pantalone, her three grandchildren, Mason, Ella, and Clara, as well as her brother, Mike Reed, his wife Joy, nephew Jason Reed (Dana), niece Valerie Van Wieren (Chris), great-nieces (Bria & Ava), and many beloved cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Reed, her father, Edward Reed, and her brother, Patrick Reed.

A celebration of Bobbie's life will be held on August 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony located at 660 Florin Road, Sacramento 95831. Friends and family are invited to gather and share their memories and stories in honor of a remarkable woman who touched so many hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The National Ataxia Foundation in Bobbie's memory.

Bobbie was one of the most friendly, happy and generous people i have ever known. She was so smart and giving of herself. I had the pleasure of being a "horseperson" with her. And, she blessed me with sharing her special horse Cisco. She cherished that little horse! It was always a pleasure at the barn when she was there. She loved her family, and I remember her bringing little Mason to the barn occasionally. What a treat it must have been for him to see his Grandmother in action! Love and blessings to the family.
