Cecil Ervin Harper
GRIFTON - Mr. Cecil Ervin Harper, 70, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 AM in the Farmer Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 10AM until the funeral hour.
Ervin was a lifelong resident of the Grifton community and graduated from North Lenoir High School. He farmed for a number of years before starting his own business, Harper Refrigeration, Heating, and A/C in 1986. For 31 years, Ervin has been a member of the Grifton EMS, serving as Chief for over 25 years. He loved Grifton EMS and his community. He sponsored numerous community events over the years through the EMS and as a CPR instructor, he certified over 1200 people in CPR. Because of this service to his community, Ervin was a recipient of multiple EMS awards, including the Old North State Award.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, Felix "Bud" Harper and Charity Arleen Harper; and brother, Herbert Allen Harper.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cynthia Denise Harper; sons, Felix Ervin Harper and wife, Niki, and Chad Michael Harper and fiancé, Vanessa; and grandson, Elijah Allen Harper.
