Charles "Chuck" Johnson

Charles "Chuck" Johnson, 78, of Moline, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Chuck was born on April 30, 1946 in Galesburg. He was the son of D. Kenneth and Mary (Bishop) Johnson, Sr. Chuck graduated from Knoxville High School in 1964. He was a veteran of the United States Army. After his discharge from the Army, Chuck graduated from Western Illinois University, Macomb with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Geography and Economics in 1971. Later, he received his Master's in Counseling Education in 1979 from WIU. He was a 7th grade Geography and Social Studies teacher for 35 years at the Sherrard CUSD 200.
Chuck served as president for the teacher's union for the Sherrard District. He was also a member of the Knoxville Half Hundred Club and enjoyed attending the class reunions. He loved to travel, especially to visit his family. He also received great joy watching his great nieces' and nephews' ball games, musicals, dance recitals, plays, graduations and award ceremonies. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and watching movies. Chuck was a huge dog lover.
Surviving Chuck is his beloved dog, Ernie; nieces and nephews, Mary Melissa Loving of Dallas, TX; Wendelyn "Wendy" Bickell of Knoxville, Travis (Lori) Johnson of Coal City, Darwin Kenneth "Kenny" (Marina) Johnson, III of Fayetteville, NC and Deane (Crystal) Johnson of St. John, IN; great nieces and nephews, Christine (Soumik Mithra) Tsuchiya of Dallas, TX and son Hrithik, Jonathan Tsuchiya of Dallas, TX, Sydney (Shane) Coleman of Virginia and daughter, Wrenley, Zach Bickell and Alis Bickell, both of Gainsville, FL, Christian Johnson of Oregon, Preston Johnson of Virginia, Griffin and Brecken Johnson of Coal City, Laura Johnson, Cassy Johnson, both of Fayetteville, NC, Maddie Johnson and Katie Johnson, both of St. John, IN. He was preceded by his parents and siblings, Wilfred "Fred" (Alice) Johnson and Darwin Kenneth (Diane) Johnson, Jr.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held from 11:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Fellowship Hall, Knoxville. Military Rites will be conducted at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville, are assisting the family with arrangements.
