Allen "Deacon" K. Jones

April 21, 1945 - August 7, 2024

Allen K. "Deacon" Jones, 79, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024 and funeral will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Van Hoe Funeral Home , East Moline. Burial, with Military Honors, will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.

Allen was born April 21, 1945, in Moline, IL, the son of William and Marie (Snodgrass) Jones. He graduated from Moline High School. He was a proud U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran-196th Light Infantry Brigade.

Deacon worked for Farmall and retired from Navistar in Indianapolis, IN.

Deacon will be fondly remembered for his unique sense of humor-loved playing pranks on friends and family. He enjoyed dirt track racing and watching NASCAR. He looked forward to visits with "Biscuit" at the VA home.

Those left to cherish his memory are his special friend of 40 years, Lisa Reschke, of Altoona, IA; nieces: Michelle (Jason) Nice, of Orion, IL and Amber Nichols (Scott Allen), Carbon Cliff, IL; nephews: Duane (Nancy) Gosa, Colona, IL and Russ Gosa (Esther Pratt), East Moline; and many great-nieces, great-nephews; and other family.

Deacon was preceded in death by his father, William; mother and stepfather, Marie and Julius Jarama; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Patricia "Pat" and Michael Nichols and Colette and Clement "Junior" Gosa.

A special thank you to the staff at the VA Home in Marshalltown. He had extraordinary care - we are forever grateful.
