Dr. Michael A. Colondrillo, age 85, of Brigantine, NJ, passed away on Wednesday August 7, 2024 surrounded by his devoted wife, Joan Colondrillo and his loving family.

Michael A. Colondrillo was born January 3, 1939 in Orange, New Jersey to Frank and Rose Colondrillo. Dr. Colondrillo married the love of his life, Joan Virgil on July 19, 1964. Dr. and Mrs. Colondrillo celebrated the birth of their daughter Janice on September 4,1968. Dr. Colondrillo graduated from Upsala College with a B.A. in Biology and Chemistry. He attended medical school at the University of Bologna from 1962-1968. He completed his Internship at University Hospital, Bologna, Italy. Returning to the United States, Dr. Colondrillo completed an externship at Mountainside Hospital and St Elizabeth's Hospital. In 1970, he entered his internship at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, NJ. This was where he found his life's passion. Dr. Colondrillo completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1973, followed by a year as Chief Resident at Monmouth Medical. After a year Fellowship in Genetics, Dr. Colondrillo opened his private practice in 1974. He practiced as a Board-Certified Physician in OB-Gyn until 2001.

Michael was a full attending physician in OB-GYN at Monmouth Medical. He was an Associate Professor at Hahneman Medical College. His post graduate training included, Colonoscopy and GYN Laser surgery, advanced GYN Surgery, Operative Pelviscopy, Endoscopic and Laser Surgery and Operative Laparoscopy and Hysterscopy.

Dr. Colondrillo was loved by his patients. He was compassionate and caring. He was given the Harry S. Slocum Award for the Outstanding Intern at Monmouth Medical Center. In addition, he received the Physicians Recognition Award given by The American Medical Society.

In Michael's spare time, he loved boating and became a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. The Colondrillo family loved to travel. His other hobbies were reading, skiing and Target Shoooting.

Dr. Colondrillo is survived by his wife Joan Virgil Colondrillo; brothers in law, Charles and Maryann Virgil, Louis and Annette Virgil; nieces Denise and Scott Guest and Amanda and Justin Guest; nephew Charles Virgil, Jr and nephew Robert Klebetz. Michael is also survived by his cousins Louis and Karen Lento and Bill, Michael and Barbara Lento. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Colondrillo; and his parents.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Life Celebration and visitation for Michael on Tuesday August 13, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:50 a.m. at St Thomas Church, 331 8th Street South, Brigantine. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Anne's Cemetery, 1610 Allenwood Road, Wall Township, NJ.
