June 27, 1933 - June 21, 2024
Ridgeway, South Carolina - A memorial service for Mr. Delmus Gunter will be held Friday, June 28, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Nelson's Funeral Home, 270 N. Dogwood Ave., Ridgeway, SC. Interment will follow in Aimwell Cemetery.
Mr. Gunter was born June 27, 1933 and he passed away on June 21, 2024 at Agape House of Lexington. He was the son of the late William D. and Marie Gunter. He was owner of Gunter's Used Cars (a walking man's friend) for over fifty years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Brenda M. Gunter; two daughters, Cathy G. (Jerry) Barfield of Winnsboro, SC and Sherri M. Gunter of Lexington, SC; one son, Delmus L. Gunter, Jr. of Lexington, SC; granddaughter, Courtney L. Gunter (Zack) of West Columbia, SC; grandsons, Ryan (Lindsay) Johnson of St. Augustine, FL; Keegan (Lauren) Johnson of Columbia, SC; Master Police Officer and K-9 Handler, Michael Gunter of Lexington, SC; two great-grandchildren, Liam Johnson and John Luke Gunter; one sister, Sadie Ferguson of Columbia, SC; longtime army buddy, Roy Smith of Hodges, SC; special grand-niece, Chloe Branham of Elgin, SC (he referred to himself as her second PaPa).
In addition to his parents, Delmus was preceded in death by two brothers, Horace Gunter and W.D. Gunter; and two sisters, Oree Baker and Willie Mae Davis.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedisys for their care and to Agape Hospice of Lexington, SC for their care. May God Bless you.
