I'm just learning of Ted's passing. He was my friend, and I recruited and helped hire some outstanding chemists he taught when I worked for Du Pont, and Rohm and Haas Company. He also helped me hire several fine Accountants from Ilinois State University. We had a lot in common. He was from Baltimore, a fellow Marylander like my wife. On recruiting trip, he invited me to his daughter's 1st Communion. He was kind, professional, helpful- just a great guy! He was also intensely proud of his students. He even lobbied me to hire a biology student who he thought was a real winner. She became the very 1st female Plant manager eventually in the history of the Du Pont Company (which started in 1802). MarySandra and I will say the Rosary for Ted, Joan, Becky, and all who love Ted. May Our Lady, Notre Dame, lovingly watch over our brother until we him again, in Christ. There's a beautiful Biblical passage that perfectly describes Ted: "...The upright man walks in his integrity" (Proverbs 20:7). All our love and prayers, Steve & MarySandra Foster, Friendswood, Texas

It's hard to put into words just how much "Dr. I" meant to me during my undergraduate years at ISU. He was my honors general chemistry professor in the fall of 1987. It was obvious how much he cared about our success and his passion for teaching was apparent. With his encouragement, I pursued a co-op experience at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. It was back when Kodak dominated the market. My time in those research labs provided the real world experience that I needed. I eventually chose to become a HS chemistry teacher, and I still think back to how "Dr. I" taught the concepts and interacted with us. Every high school student of mine has heard stories about "Dr. I."

Dr. Ichniowski was a wonderful chemistry professor. I worked as his TA in the master“s program for a semester or two. He was an excellent mentor. I recall his enthusiasm, and his great sense of humor. My condolences to his family and friends-

I had the privilege of having Dr. Ichniowski as my general chemistry professor in 1973. He was a class act and loved his relationship with students. Anyone who was a friend of his new a very fine gentleman.

Ted was always a friend of Normal Fire Department Hazmat team. He helped with technical issues and helped any time we would call. At the ISU science building he was always there if a fire alarm came in for the building to ensue us the Firefighters and any students or other Professors that my be in the building were safe. Going into the basement storage area of Schroeder Hall was made less scary when He was with us.
Ted was very proud of the New Science building at ISU. He was always happy to show us around and answer any questions we might have.
Many Prayers to the Family who he loved.

I am so very sorry to hear of Ted's passing! He was a foundational part of our neighborhood and a great friend to all! I have so many fond memories of us sitting around my parent's kitchen table talking and laughing. He was so very smart and kind and my family was always in awe of how loving and close your family is. May you have peace in knowing that he is with Jesus now in Heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with you all! Cynthia Hill (Febus)
