Hugh Hudson Obituary

After a wonderfully adventurous ninety-eight years, Hugh passed peacefully on August 6, 2024. A life-long resident of the Pajaro Valley, Hugh was born June 12, 1926 in Watsonville, CA to parents Fred R. & Ethel M. Hudson. He attended public schools in Watsonville and graduated from Stanford University in 1948 after serving in the Navy during World War II. After graduation and two years of insurance training in San Francisco, Hugh returned to Watsonville in 1950 and joined his father's firm, McSherry & Hudson.

Hugh married Patricia A. Corrigan on July 11, 1954 and began raising their family, moving to Corralitos in 1962. He remained in the insurance business until his retirement from McSherry & Hudson in 1999. Hugh was a member of the Watsonville Elks Club, The 20-30 Club and served as president of the Watsonville Rotary Club in 1965. He served on the board of directors of the Independent Insurance Agents of California and as regional chairman of CNA Insurance Company's Pacer Program. He was a founding director of the Pajaro Valley Bank.

Hugh and Pat traveled extensively to over 100 nations including all the world's continents excluding Antartica. He was a lifetime member of the All Saint's Episcopal Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing and was an avid fan of the Giants, Forty-Niners and his alma mater, Stanford.

He leaves behind his partner in life, his loving and devoted wife, Pat. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Fred, and his sister, Marilyn Davis. He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Janet Hudson, Lynda Shirvanian (Lee), Nancy Hudson, William Hudson (Pam), Pamela Hudson, and eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The entire family celebrated Pat & Hugh's 70th anniversary this past July. His life was all about his family, his friends and his American values.
