Craig Schreiber Obituary

Craig L. Schreiber, age 69, of Santa Monica, CA, passed away on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025. He was born in Oshkosh, WI to the late Richard and Joan (Monday) Schreiber, on October 15th, 1955, the fourth of seven children. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from Lourdes Academy, class of 1974.

After high school, Craig relocated to California to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. He landed his first job at Capital Records in the mail room, allowing him to network with a variety of people in the industry. He was also a delivery driver, enabling him to learn the layout of the Los Angeles area. Following Capital Records, Craig began working for a company that produced television commercials. This job took him to Germany, where he lived for several years before returning to Santa Monica. He had many fond memories of his time spent in Germany & cherished a special friendship with Ernestine Hipper.

Craig was a kind and caring individual, always willing to help anyone in need. He had an infectious smile, an incredible sense of humor & an infectious laugh! In his younger years he was full of energy and always on the go, traveling the world. Beginning in his early forties, Craig began to develop several health issues, including fibromyalgia, diabetes and several bouts of painful pancreatitis. Eventually he was no longer able to work.

Surviving Craig are his mother, Joan; siblings, Lynn (Jim) LaViolette, Paul Schreiber (Judy Schreiber), Neil Schreiber, Terry Schreiber-Stromme (Mark Stromme), Scott Schreiber, all of Oshkosh and Becky (Dave) Pethan, Sheboygan; nieces and nephews, Tom (Sari) LaViolette, Cory (Susan) Schreiber, Aron Schreiber, Patrick (Michelle) Stromme, Annah Stromme, Richard (Tiffany) Schreiber, Sarah Schreiber, and Philip and Elliot Pethan. He is also survived by six great nieces, six great nephews, uncles and aunts; Bruce (Risa) Schreiber, Caroline Auler, Bill Monday, Judy Monday-Case, Gary (Linda) Monday, Ron Bennett; several cousins, other relatives, friends and neighbors. Craig is further survived by his best friend of over forty years, John Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; grandparents, George & Verna Schreiber and Harold & Catherine Monday; uncles and aunts, Bob Schreiber, David (Mary) Monday, Danny (Marlene) Monday and Kay Monday, as well as two cousins.

Our family would like to publicly thank John Murphy for the kindness and care he provided Craig over the years. Craig truly appreciated you beyond measure, as do we! We would also like to thank Craig's friend, Chris Murphy, for visiting him these past few months and for being with him in his final hours. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

The family has held a private service and Craig has been laid to rest alongside his dad in Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh. Godspeed, brother. Rest in peace.

Craig was one of my besties in high school. We spent countless hours bombing around in his father's Lincoln with the coolest suicide doors, visiting with his brother Paul, and loving music. I am so sad to hear of his health issues and discomfort. Rest In Peace, my good friend. I have missed you.
