Donald Blume Obituary

Donald B. Blume Jr., 82, of Mission Viejo, CA, passed away on January 3, 2024. Born on June 6, 1941, in Sioux City, IA, Don was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria Blume, his four children, Aimee, Karla, Donald, and Matthew, and his eight grandchildren.Don was drafted and served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. After his military service, Don made his way out to California where he met Maria. Don and Maria eventually settled in Downey, where they lived for 45 years before relocating to Mission Viejo in 2014. Don had a zest for adventure and enjoyed taking his family on cross-country road trips, often returning to his hometown of Sioux City, IA. He also had a deep appreciation for nature and loved exploring National and State Parks and National Forests across the United States. Don's passion for sports extended beyond Nebraska football, as he also found joy in coaching and managing his children's athletic teams. Later in life, Don was most happy being surrounded by his grandchildren. Don's family will honor his memory with a Celebration of Life in Emerson, NB, this summer. They will gather to remember and cherish the moments they shared with him.
