John Bishop Obituary

John Charles Bishop 65 of Washington died Wednesday October 15 2025. He was born in Canonsburg on November 6, 1959 a son of the late Charles Bishop and Joann Bruno Bishop of Cecil. He was a 1977 graduate of Canon Mac High School. He then went on to work for PennDOT, from which he retired over 35 years later. John performed various jobs with PennDOT over the years but mostly was a truck driver working with snow removal and black top. He was Catholic by faith. John loved hunting, being outdoors and woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Stephanie A. Orndoff Bishop, step-children, Kristen Leigh Vennum, Kara Ann Matvey (Vincent), Jonny Bishop; grandchildren Ashley Burks (Austin), Rachel Matvey, Kayla Matvey; two great-grandsons Colton and Trent Burks, two sisters Krista Bishop McConnell, Terri Bishop (Mike), and three nieces. Family and friends will be received Monday from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden St Washington where Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday.
