MARTHA RICHHEIMER Obituary

MELNICK RICHHEIMER-- Martha, 103, died on September 29, 2024, loving mother of Marsha Melnick (Susan E. Meyer) was predeceased by her husband Abraham Melnick and son Lloyd, and her second husband Dr. Leonard Richheimer. She is survived by three grandchildren Gregg (Michelle), Jayme Tave (David), Danielle Iland (Shy), and six great-grandchildren Justin and Ryan (Melnick), Lexi and Jordan (Tave), Milan and Lenny (Iland); and step-son David (Aniko), and step- grandchildren Stephanie and Billy. She was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, lived in Brighton Beach, Sheepshead Bay, and Great Neck. She graduated Abraham Lincoln High School, attended Queens College, and was a lifelong autodidact. As a full-time volunteer for 27 years at Long Island Jewish Hospital she worked in admissions, the blood labs, the first women's domestic abuse clinic, and as VP on the Board of the Women's Service Guild, where she played a key role in creating the first patients' bill of rights. Her sharp mind, insatiable curiosity, sense of humor, and spitfire personality were only topped by her profound love of her family. Contributions to Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, 130 West 30th Street, NY may be made in her memory.
