Frank X. Kotz
Born: August 27, 1935 in Chicago, IL
Died: December 2, 2021 in Barrington, IL
Frank X Kotz, 86, passed away December 2, 2021, in Barrington, after a brief illness. Born August 27, 1935 in Chicago to Paul and Isabella Kotz, Frank was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Isabella (Joseph) Thomalla, Herman, Paul, Oscar, Rudolph, Frieda (Helmut) Frank, Pauline (Wallace) Neil, Joseph (Maryann), and Thomas (Patricia).
He was a 1953 graduate of Lane Tech High School, and a 38-year employee of Teletype / AT&T.
Frank met the love of his life, Barbara (née Mettler) and the two were married October 21, 1961. He was a devoted husband of 60 years, and a Dear Old Dad to four sons, Jeff (Kimberly, the late Jenny), Steve (Patti), Ken (Gina, the late Liza), and Paul (Jennifer).
Frank was an uncle to many and beloved Poppy to Chris, Ashli (Dakota), Alex, Brian, Konrad, Jack, Christopher, Maria, Lisa, Nathan, and Mallory, and great-grandfather to Rose. He loved being surrounded by family.
Frank was a Renaissance Man who could fix just about anything, loved sports cars, especially his Porsche 356s, and served as scoutmaster of his sons' Boy Scout Troop 107 in Niles, IL.
Frank enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, and taking long road trip vacations throughout the US with his family. He was an amateur astronomer, viewing the heavens through his telescope, he loved classical music, especially Beethoven, and he enjoyed watching TV, everything from the History Channel to Monty Python's Flying Circus to Anime. He loved to play with words, and was especially skilled at corny "dad jokes" and puns.
Frank was a man of faith, a devout Catholic who loved the Lord with his whole being.
