Daniel Robert Meyer
1957-2024
Daniel Robert Meyer aged 67, made his final transition on August 5, 2024, at his residence in North Troy, Vermont. He was born in Rochester, Minnesota on April 23, 1957, to his loving parents Robert Meyer and Marilyn Peterson. He graduated from The American Preparatory Institute of Texas in 1977. He enlisted in the Army in September of 1974 until he was honorably discharged in September of 1977, he served in Germany as an Electric Systems Repairman and a Wheel Vehicle Mechanic, earning highest ranking during military tour of duty. He eventually moved to California and worked as a diesel mechanic for years. His lifelong friend and wife moved to Vermont, and he decided to move to the Northeast Kingdom along with them. Within three months of moving here he had a mechanics job with Pepin’s Truck Repair, and a new wife, who had a young daughter who he adored. He loved his job and his new start in life. He worked at this job for many years. He was very well known for his excellent mechanic skills, rebuilding transmissions and known as “Dan the man”. He also served in the Vermont National Guard for many years. He lived life to the fullest in his later years, he continued to live in Vermont for 36 years. Dan enjoyed family, fishing, sports especially football, guns, animals, Harley Motorcycles, he loved 70’s rock & roll music, he also enjoyed the outdoors, a beautiful scenic view, he collected wheat pennies and old coins. Two of his favorite sayings were, “I'm here for a good time, not a long time,” and “We will get there when we get there.”
Daniel is survived by 5 children and many grandchildren through his marriage to Gina (Venuto), they were married for 14 years. Stepdaughter Valarie Viveros Venuto (North Troy) and her children Damien, Armani and Nickolai. His son Anthony Meyer (Cambridge) wife Victoria Vanderbilt and their children Lincon, and Samual. His daughter Kristy Mattson (Jay), her husband John Mattson and their children Darrick, and Emilia. His daughter Haily Morse (Newport Town) her husband Trevor Morse and their children Ryker, Matthew and Harpor. His daughter Bethanie Meyer (Morrisville) and her children Atticus, and Alanis. He is also survived by his Mother Marilyn Peterson (Texas) and his brother Dean Meyer (Texas) along with lots of nieces and nephews. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and all their accomplishments. He was preceded by death by his father Robert Meyer (Iowa), brother David Meyer (Iowa) sister Diane Winegeart (Texas) and brother Dale Meyer (California).
He was loved by many and will always be remembered. There will be a private remembrance of life for him in the near future. Any contributions can be donated to the National Guard.
