Cheryl Tanner Obituary

Cheryl Tucker Tanner aka Yediydah Yisrael, age 65, entered eternal rest on May 20, 2023, at Center Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Baton Rouge, LA. She was born on October 22, 1957, in Algiers, New Orleans, LA, to the union of Malcolm Tucker Sr. and Ophelia Albert Tucker. She was a graduate of O. Perry Walker High School Class of 1976 and continued her education at Southern University in New Orleans where she earned her bachelor's degree in business administration. Cheryl was a laborer of good works and spread her love and joy; wherever she laid down her foot, a flower would grow. Cheryl leaves to cherish her memories, 3 children–Donald (Samantha) Jacobs Jr., Leah Israel, and Athaylah (Skylar Sr.) Israel-Merriman; 5 stepchildren–Kima Byrd, Laurie Stith, Casheem Pittman, Rahemie Byrd, and Hasan Waiters; mother–Ophelia Tucker; 3 brothers–Arnold (Ernestine), Kenneth (Linda), and Mark (Angela) Tucker; 6 grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband–Jeffrey W. Tanner; father–Malcolm; 2 brothers–Malcolm Jr. (Bettina) and Terry Tucker; 3 uncles–Lawrence (Marguerite), Raymond (Beatrice), and Arthur Albert; and 2 aunts–Rita Hopkins and Mary (Lionel Sr.) Albert Burrell. Family and friends are invited to Cheryl's Memorial service on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Murray Henderson Funeral Home, 1209 Teche Street, New Orleans, LA 70114. Brother Chezyown Menasheh Yisrael will officiate. Professional arrangements are entrusted to Murray Henderson Funeral Home.
