Leslie Bennett Obituary

Leslie David Bennett, 79, passed away peacefully Sept. 10, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by family and friends.
Born March 14, 1946, in Pierson, Florida, Leslie lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his faith, and his work. The youngest of seven children born to Herbert and Gracie Bennett, Leslie learned the value of family and of hard work. He carried those values throughout his life, becoming a man known for his kindness, generosity, and patience. Also a man of deep faith, Leslie was a Christian who maintained a strong relationship with his Lord and Savior throughout his life.
Leslie proudly served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His service reflected the same selflessness and strength that would define him throughout his life. Following his military service, Leslie built a successful career owning multiple businesses specializing in waterproofing/roofing and concrete restoration. His tireless work ethic and commitment to quality earned him respect within his industry and community alike.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Leslie was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Bennett; daughter, Temperince Morgan and husband Eric; son, Blain Bennett and wife Lou; son, Josh Norman and wife Taylor; and grandchildren, Colton Bennett, Joel Norman, Murphy Norman, and Blake Norman. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Jamie Norman; brothers Grady Bennett, Ralph Bennett, Clifford Bennett; and sisters Wilda Johnson, Louella Pickett, and Naomi Pellicer.
Leslie found great joy in the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting – pastimes that brought him peace and contentment. A passionate sports fan as well, he enjoyed watching football, boxing, and racing. He could often be found reading or watching westerns. Leslie's legacy is one of love – for family, country, faith, and honest work. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as an enduring reminder of a life well lived.
A funeral service was held Sept. 13, 2025 at West Church, 550974 U.S. 1, Hilliard, FL 32046. Guests were welcomed beginning at 10:30 a.m. The service began at 11.
