Marion J Alfrey, age 90, of Rockford IL and former longtime resident of Naperville IL, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Alden Debes Rehabilitation Center in Rockford. She was born October 30, 1930 in Harvey IL to parents Hazel and John Corson. Marion graduated from Thornton Township High School where she began a lifetime interest in biology and nutrition. Shortly after graduating she met the love of her life, Loren Alfrey, and they were united in marriage on March 11, 1950. They lived and raised their growing family in Harvey before moving to Naperville in 1971. Over the years, Marion worked as a library clerk at both the Public Library and Sandberg Elementary School in Harvey as well as holding several secretarial positions in the Naperville area, including being the Recording Secretary for the Village of Lisle. She had a servant's heart and was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, helping wherever and whenever she could at church and in the community. Marion is survived by her children Michael (Tina) Alfrey, Daniel (Carol) Alfrey and Diane (William) Bowers; three grandchildren Kathryn (Brian) Page; Margaret (Matthew) Krickeberg and Matthew Alfrey and four great-grandchildren; a brother John (Karen) Corson and a sister Betty (Gordon) Van Erden. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Loren. A visitation and funeral service to celebrate her life was held at Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville on May 14, followed by interment in the Kaneville Township Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory in Naperville. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation or the Grace United Methodist Church Foundation, 300 Gartner, Naperville IL 60540 (www.peopleofgrace.org).
