Linda Wolfe Obituary

Linda E. Wolfe

Jan. 31, 1941 - April 23, 2024

NAPA - Linda E. Wolfe (Alford) passed away on April 23, 2024, at the age of 83 in her home in Napa, CA.

Linda was born on January 31, 1941, in Martinez, CA. She attended Alhambra High School, class of 1958. She went to college at California State University Chico and received a master's degree. She was a dedicated educator and a passionate advocate for horses and horseback riding. Linda dedicated her career to teaching at Silverado Middle School in Napa, where she positively impacted the lives of countless students during her 38 years of teaching.

In addition to her teaching career, Linda was a proud 52-year member of a women's trail riding group called the Napa Saddle Jackets, led by a group of women who primarily lived in the Coombsville area. These women and their horses continue the tradition of riding and packing into remote areas. Linda enjoyed many riding trips to such places as the Sierra, Humboldt Redwoods, Santa Cruz, Point Reyes Seashore and Yosemite area. Linda also completed the challenging Tevis Cup endurance ride, a 100-mile ride in one day, on her horse Smoke. Members of the Saddle Jackets were instrumental in helping to establish Skyline Park in Napa, which has more than 26 miles of trails for riding. Linda also participated in other horse groups such as the Napa Horsemen's and was a founding member of Skyline Riders.

Aside from her professional and equestrian pursuits, Linda found joy in traveling the world with her husband Larry. The pair covered a lot of ground including: France, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Turkey, Croatia, Fiji, Hawaii, Mexico, and her favorite the Galapagos Islands. Linda embraced diverse cultures and adventure and is remembered for jumping on a zip-line at 70 years of age with no fear.

She also reveled in boating with Larry and their friends at the Napa Valley Yacht Club, fostering friendships and creating lasting memories with monthly cruise-outs along the Delta to events like the Sacramento Jazz Festival and Opening Day on the Bay.

Linda is survived by her husband, Larry Wolfe; her children: Mike Ackers (Alicia), Tim Ackers, Laurie Wolfe (Marlon), and Andrew Wolfe (Kim).

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Spirit Horse Therapeutic Riding Center in American Canyon.

Treadway & Wigger Funeral Chapel in Napa is assisting with the funeral arrangements.

Linda will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, but her memory will live on through the lives she touched and the stories she shared. May her legacy live on in the hearts of those who knew her. We will miss you Lady Linda.

My heart goes out to her two sons, Mike and Tim. Linda was such a brilliant and beautiful person. It was a joy to know her and be inspired by her generosity and strength. And her intellect. What a fully-faceted wonderful human.

Linda, Barb Santaga, and I buddied around in Jr. and High School. We lived a stones throw from each other up on Shell Hill/Palm Avenue. She was a delightful human being! I'm glad she had such a rewarding life and was loved by so many. RIP, lovely lady. Joan (Jody) Strickland Evans

Linda was one of a kind! I'll never forget the good times we had in the 70's and 80's as members of the Saddle Jackets. Enjoyed the years we spent together as her son's, Mike and Tim, played baseball with mine.
Thankful I was able to see her last year at the Saddle Jacket Reunion. Deep sympathy to her family, Linda will be missed by many.

Linda and Bill started teaching at Ridgeview at the same time, a bond that they shared through the last dinners she attended at Napa Valley Yacht Club. Bouyant and funny we both always enjoyed being around her. A distinctive and pleasant laugh we knew when Linda was in attendance. From early faculty gatherings through NVYC events.
Our hearts go out to Larry and family. Linda will be missed.

Larry and family, I am so sorry for your loss. When I was first out of college (YEARS AGO!) and started working in NVUSD she was always so kind and supportive when I was on SMS campus. Beautiful lady, beautiful smile. Hugs to all.
