William Black Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Collins-Burke Funeral Home on Feb. 1, 2025.
William Nathan Black was born on May 16, 1950, and departed this life on January 28, 2025. He is survived by his two beloved daughters, Miranda Lyn Walker (Jacob) of Jasper, and Laurie Beth Weldon (Wes) of Wetumpka. Nathan was also a proud grandfather to five granddaughters: Sadie Elise Walker, Katherine Mabrey Weldon, Aubrey Malyn Weldon, Ara Tess Walker, and Wren Paisley Weldon. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Ann Black, who lives in Jasper. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, William Arthur and Madel Elizabeth Black, who also resided in Union Chapel.
Nathan held a deep affection for Fort Toulouse, a place rich with cherished memories. He was captivated by the natural beauty of the park and the wonderful individuals who frequented it. Nathan found great joy in spending his time there, embraced by the vibrant community that gathered at Fort Toulouse. The friendships he cultivated and the meaningful moments he shared with others at the fort filled his life with immense happiness and satisfaction.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Friends of the Forts, which can be sent to PO Box 1348, Wetumpka, AL 36092. This organization reflects Nathan's passion for preserving the beauty and history of Fort Toulouse.
A service to honor Nathan's life will take place on Saturday, February 22, at 2:00 PM at Fort Toulouse Park in Wetumpka. All who knew him are invited to join in celebrating his life and the lasting impact he had on those around him.
