Robert E. "Bob" Hoskins, 94, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born October 20, 1927, in Chicago, the son of Edward and Jenny (Johnson) Hoskins. Graduate of Lane Tech High School in Chicago. Veteran of U.S. Marines serving in Korea and proud to serve his county. Bob married Lorretta Carlson on November 14, 1953, in Iowa. Together they celebrated 64 years together before her passing on November 26, 2017. He worked for Illinois Bell/AT&T for his entire career. Bob was a member of Arlington Heights Evangelical Free Church in Arlington Heights. He enjoyed bowling, watching golf & football, camping and reading about military history. Bob also relished his relationships and conversations with his friends at Fairhaven.
Survived by his children, Nancy (Wayne) Frey of Wheaton, IL, Bill Hoskins of Redondo Beach, Ca, and Carol (Chris) Gerardi of Downers Grove, IL; grandchildren, Ben (Kelly) Frey, Stacie (Greg) Smith, Christie (Kevin) Whiteman, Brittany (Josh) Rodkey, Rebecca & Rachel Hoskins, Troy, Brett & Scott (Meghan) Phillips, Tina Gerardi, Carrie (Juan) Fernandez, Diana (Joey) Antonelli, and Christopher (Jessie Johnson) Gerardi; and 14 great-grandchildren. Also predeceased by his parents; son, Ron Hoskins; and twin brother, Bill. The family would like to thank the staff of Fairhaven and their health center team for the care and kindness they showed Bob and his family and to OSF Hospice for their support.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at First Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford with Reverend David Petty officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center, 3470 N.
