James “Jim” Allen Burbridge, 81, of Delhi, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester, Iowa. Public Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester.
Private Family Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 with burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Greeley, Iowa. Full military honors will be accorded.
James Burbridge was born on September 10, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of John M. and Clara L. (Steffen) Burbridge. He graduated from Delhi High School in Delhi, Iowa, in 1962. James proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Helicopter Repairman in Korea. On October 30, 1971, he married Susan McAreavy in Greeley, Iowa, and together they were blessed with two children.
James worked as a Millwright at Wilson Foods, which later became Farmstead Foods, for 26 years. He continued his career at Ralston, later known as National and then Quaker Oats, until his retirement.
Jim was enthusiastic participant in stock car racing and was well known in the racing community. He shared this love with his family, who often joined him at the races. He was a diligent and dedicated man, known for taking pride in his work and helping others grow and succeed in their careers.
Jim also found joy in caring for his yard and took great pride in keeping his lawn immaculate with his lawn tractor. More than anything, he loved spending time with his friends and family.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Susan Burbridge of Delhi; children, Michael Burbridge of Delhi, Brandy Sue (Jeff) Burbridge Lamp of Urbandale, Iowa; and two grandchildren, Lucas James Burbridge and Lauren Lamp; brother, Dan Burbridge of Delhi, and his sister, Mary K. (Tim) Breitbach of Colesburg, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Burbridge; brothers, Florian Burbridge and Wayne (Deb) Burbridge.
Memorials in James’s memory may be directed to the family.
