Carl Pohrte Jr., age 77 of Naperville, IL passed away suddenly, Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Edward Hospital. He was born in Chicago, IL to his late parents, Rose and Carl Pohrte Sr.
Loved Husband of Sandra K. Pohrte, nee Spindler.
Much-loved Dad of Shannon Pohrte, Stephanie (Ryan) Woelfel, Carl Marcus-Michael III (Andrea) Pohrte and the late Megan Pohrte.
Adored Papa of Ashlynn, Brynlee, and Charlyze Woelfel, Drake Pohrte, Jayden, Everleigh, and Carl (CJ) Pohrte IV.
Older Brother to Tim Pohrte, Joel (Cheryl) Pohrte, Mary Jo (Dan) Lippe, Robb (Kim) Pohrte, and the late Michael Pohrte. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Carl graduated from Thornton Township High School, class of 1963.
He enlisted in the Air Force and was a dedicated and proud member of the Combat Control Team (CCT) 1963-1967. Following his military career, Carl received his bachelor's degree from Judson University in Elgin. Throughout his IT and software consulting career, he traveled extensively, and wined and dined clients on the company dime. Whether it be detailing his Porsches, landscaping, decorating for the holidays, walking his dog, or smoking a cigar with a fine glass of Port, Carl loved hard and often. More Porsche-focused activities that Carl enjoyed were competing in concourses and driving a curvy Porsche road, as we called it. Carl also enjoyed traveling with his wife to places such as Italy, Croatia, and various parts of the United States.
Being a life-long learner, Carl was an avid reader and always had a story pertaining to history or something he had experienced to share with anyone he met. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wounded Warrior Foundation.
