Annie Hung Fung Lui maiden name Lee was born on May 23, 1956 in Malaysia. She was the second of six children born to Chin Men Lee and Yok Yee Chee. As the eldest daughter, she helped her mother to care for the family by cooking and cleaning. At the age of 18, Annie worked in her hometown's artificial flower factory before migrating to the US in 1980.

A few months after arriving in San Francisco, Annie worked at a dim sum restaurant called Tai Fook. She met Jeffrey Lui and they married in November of 1983. They had two children and she cared for her new family as a stay at home mom. The family lived in different places including Oregon, the SF Bay Area, and Hong Kong before settling in 2016 in Fairfield, CA.

Annie spoke different Chinese dialects and stayed in touch with her friends and family.

Annie enjoyed cooking whether it was Asian, American, or even Mexican. There were rarely leftovers at parties.

Annie was a lover of nature and was either gardening at home or taking walks to see local wildlife. She travelled to multiple national parks in the US and countries around the world.

Annie was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in March of 2025. She wished to not burden others and only notified her immediate family and siblings. Annie passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 13, 2026 at the age of 69.

Annie was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and mother. She will be missed by all.

" " (Sheng si you mìng, f' guì yóu tian) | "Life and death are predetermined, riches and honor come from heaven."
