Donna Covington Obituary

Donna Mae Covington

July 10, 1941 - May 20, 2024

Pasco, Washington - Donna Mae Myers Covington was born July 10,1941, to Arthur and Helen Myers, in Pierce Nebraska. Soon after Donnas birth, they moved to Richland, Wa.to work on the Hanford Project. She grew up in Benton City with her siblings, John, Nancy, Roland, and Judy on the family farm. She graduated from Ki-Be High School in 1959. She attended airline school in Los Angeles, then moved home to work at the Dip Inn Cafe owned by her mother in Kiona. She met Alvie while serving him coffee at the cafe. They married on February 11, 1962. They had 2 children Jerry and Cheryl. She also had an exchange student son Narito (Masaka), and 2 granddaughters Mika and Huka, with whom she chatted via Skype weekly. The Saturday night call was a wonderful part of her week. She loved being able to hear about Huka's week and activities. They lived their whole married lives in the Tri-Cities except for a 3-year span when they moved to Arkansas to live near Nancy and John.

Donna started working for the Pasco School District food service, becoming the head cook at McGee Elementary School for many years. She had a very special rapport with the staff and students.

Camping was always a favorite pastime. She and Alvie had many memories of family and friends at cookouts, fishing and playing card games. They traveled with the Moving Moose and 3 Rivers Sam traveling club. After they sold their motorhome Cheryl and Tina would take her camping and cruising to the Wildhorse. They also enjoyed taking her to the Seattle Storm basketball games.

Donna was quite crafty. Card making became a pastime that she enjoyed with Cheryl. They would get together once a week and spend the day in the stamp room creating cards and memories. She would get together once a month with friends for card exchanges. She also gathered with friends for weekly dominos and monthly bunco.

She was a longtime member of Pasco First Christian Church. Her church friends became best friends. Wednesdays and Sundays were spent learning and growing together.

Donna and Alvie were dedicated volunteers for the Pasco Invite and Booster Club. They had the honor of having the Invite dedicated to them one year.

Donna is survived by daughter Cheryl and daughter in-law Tina, daughter in-law Spring Covington, sister Nancy (Earl), Clark, Notito Takanaka and his family Masaka,Mika and Huka.

Donna was met at heaven's gate by parents, her son Jerry (Dec.6,2023) and husband Alvie (Jan 1, 2024).

Services will be held at Pasco Christian Church on June 19th at 11 a.m. with graveside services at 1:30p.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
